Zum AGCW VHF Contest war noch einmal sommerliches Wetter. Dazu habe ich den Aussichtsturm auf dem Mordkuhlenberg (DA/NI-238) bestiegen und von dort eine gute Stunde im AGCW UKW Kontest teilgenommen. Das Ergebnis war nicht gerade berauschend, aber rund um die Antenne gab es einige Stationen zu arbeiten und es war dann doch der beste Kilometer-Durchschnitt für mich im AGCW-Wettbewerb auf UKW.
ODX war die französische F6HJO/p Station für 633km.
Antenne am BauzaunNur ein paar Tage später startete der Oktober Aktivitäts-Kontest am ersten Dienstag des Monats. Auf dem Dörenberg (DM/NS-036) angekommen, war ich sehr überrascht, dass der Hermannsturm gesperrt war. Schade – so habe ich den Teleskopmast auf maximal Länge ausgefahren, aber nur etwa halbe Höhe des Aussichtsturms erreicht.
ODX war die dänische OZ1CT Station auf der Insel Bornholm für 552km.
Der Turm wurde ausgrechnet an diesem Dienstag gesperrt, weil er für den Besucherverkehr nicht mehr sicher genug sei. Ich hoffe, dass einer Sanierung nichts im Wege steht. Schon Ende der 70er Jahre habe ich von dort oben mit meiner Portable-Station (ICOM IC-240, Motorrad-Säurebatterie und HB9CV) meine ersten Bergaktivierungen durchgeführt und war während der letzten 40 Jahre unzählige Male vom Dörenberg qrv. Ich denke, es ist der beste UKW-Standort in Nordwest-Deutschland.
This month we started the GMAC – Global Mountain Activity Contest. That means, GMA takes part in the „first-tuesday-in-a-month“ 144 MHz contests. But – you have to enter from a GMA summit. Exchange is report and QTH-locator.
For the first entry (after a software test-phase) I used our clubcall DL0GMA. Location was the well known Hermansturm outlook tower – the highest point in our county – on the Dörenberg in the Teutoburg Forest.
In very bad weather I managed 71 QSOs with FT857D (35W) and a 5 ele DK7ZB Yagi.
The evening began dry, then fog came up, later drizzle and then rain. But it was a lot of fun. Also again with other visitors on that tower, who were curious what I am doing …
Wer hier ab und zu mal hereinliest, der weiß inzwischen, dass jeden ersten Dienstag im Monat so einiges los ist im 2m-Band. Endlich war am Dienstag, den 5. Juli, kein Regen vorhergesagt und auch nur in einiger Entfernung Regen auszumachen. Der erste „erste-Dienstag-im-Monat“ dieses Jahr ohne Regen!
Leider konnte ich erst gegen 20.30 MESZ qrv werden, das hat aber trotzdem dicke gereicht, um diese Bergaktivität für das GMA (Global Mountain Activity) zu qualifizieren. Die Antenne war dauerhaft Richtung Norden gedreht, um Station aus dem NAC (NRAU Activiy Contest, Ausschreibung in Deutsch) zu erwischen.
Zu meiner Überraschung konnte ich sogar noch Pom, DG7ACF/P, vom Berg „Fast“ DM/NS-121 bei Springe für ein Berg-zu-Berg-QSO loggen und auch einige Telegrafie-QSOs sind im Log gelandet.
July and really cold temperatures for summer. But no rain this morning and I took the chance to climb on my hausberg, the Piesberg DM/NS-108. I operated about one hour on 2m and 70cm .. only S&P. No special distances are in the log, but 5 DXCC countries. The station was a FT-857D with 25w output, powered by LiPo batteries, and a DK7ZB 5 ele 2m/8 ele 70cm duoband Yagi. Maybe the condx on 70cm were not good or the performance of the antenna on 432 MHz was bad. I worked only one close station and heard some weak stations, but they did not hear me.
Our car is broken and we decided to buy a new one. But it needs about 6 weeks to rebuild it for wheelchair access. Meanwhile I drive my BMW scooter … and I was ready for AGCW VHF Contest, Antenna and mast were in the scooter’s backpack.
From the „carpark“ Schweizerhaus it is only a short hike, about 1km, until the outlook tower. The setup was routine: put together the DK7ZB 5 ele, push up the fiberglass mast, connecting the station.
I heard the first stations calling CQ, worked one and then as usual: CQ de DM7N. ODX was F6DCD for 434 km. Then suddenly a gush and thunderstorm came up – during a QSO my Palm Paddles were flooded and the key had feeled 50 wpm. That was too quick for me and the other station. Fast as a lightning (like around me) I shut down the station and walked downstairs into the shelter at the foot of the outlook tower and had to wait some 20 minutes until I could leave DA/NI-238 Mordkuhlenberg.
Für den diesjährigen 10m Contest habe ich mich für die 2x CW Klasse entschieden. Station: FT-817 ND plus 25w PA, Delta Loop ca. 26m über Grund, 350m ü. NHN. Im Log landeten 41 QSO, das ist weniger als die Hälfte, die ich sonst in SSB habe. Score 1400 Pts, das kann ich jetzt nicht einschätzen, wo man da landet … einfach überraschen lassen. 73 von den Bergen, Mario
Ein weiteres Mal war ich von meinem Hausberg, dem Piesberg (DM/NS-108 in JO42AH), qrv. Gestern hatten wir Herbstwetter mit Sturm und Regen, aber heute war das Wetter für eine kleine Bergaktivierung geeignet. Etwa 2 Stunden war ich qrv und habe nach neuen und bekannten Stationen gesucht. OE, Österreich, habe ich noch nie vom Piesberg gearbeitet. Das wäre was … und wie immer im Marconi Contest waren die OK Stationen (Tschechien) mit starkem Signal in Osnabrück zu hören. Mit Tom, DL1DVE, hatte ich eine S2S (Summit to Summit) Verbindung mit DA/SX-224 in der Nähe von Dresden für 426km. Dann hatte ich Glück und habe OE5D gehört und auf Anhieb erreicht. ODX heute war G7RAF auf der „Isle of Wight“ für 668km. Station: 25w output, 5 ele Yagi (DK7ZB).

So I was nearly 2h qrv hoping for new stations. OE is missing from here. As always in Marconi Contest the OK stations were very strong. With Tom, DL1DVE I had a S2S (summit to summit) QSO into Saxonia for 426km. Then I worked luckily OE5D 😀 ODX was G7RAF from the Isle of Wight for 668km. Station: 25w, 5 ele Yagi (DK7ZB).

Schon am Morgen meldete NDR1 Niedersachsen die Temperatur für Braunlage mit 3°C und auf dem Wurmberg mit 14°C. Die Inversionswetterlage machte Hoffnungen auf Überreichweiten und tolle Verbindungen auf 144 MHz am Dienstag Abend, den 3. November.
Die Station bestand, wie bei den letzten UKW Aktivierungen, aus FT-817 plus ~ 25w Endstufe gespeist von zwei LiPo Akkus. Die Antenne war eine 5-Element Yagi nach DK7ZB.
Nach dem ersten Bandcheck stand gleich fest: das wird ein besonderer Abend. SK7MW mit S9+ OZ1ALS benötigte fast 30 kHz Bandbreite für sein S9++++ Signal. QRM, Brubbeln, Splattern, Gurgeln – wie im SSB Teil des 40m Bandes. Toll! Beim ersten ‚rüberdrehen bis zur QRG 144.195 MHz, auf der ich normalerweise CQ rufe, habe ich direkt meine erste LA-Station geloggt. Auch mit weit über S9.
Die Antenne war die ganze Zeit einfach Richtung Norden gedreht und auf CQ Rufe meldeten sich viele SM, OZ und LA Stationen. Im Log sind sogar mehr SMs als DLs.
Neben einem „neuen Land“ habe ich auch noch mein persönliches 2m ODX gefahren: SK0EN in JO99JX mit 1078km.

Already in the morning reported Radio NDR 1 Lower Saxony temperature for Braunlage (Harz) 3 ° C and on the Wurmberg (highest summit in Lower Saxony, ~ 1000m) with 14 ° C.
The inversion made hopes for great conditions on 144 MHz on Tuesday evening, 3rd November.
My station was, as in the past VHF activations, a FT-817 plus ~ 25W power amplifier fed by
two LiPo batteries. The antenna was a 5 element Yagi DK7ZB.
After my first check of the band: it will be a special evening. SK7MW with S9 +; OZ1ALS took almost 30 kHz bandwidth for its S9 ++++ signal. QRM, babbling, splattering, gargling – as in the SSB portion of the 40m band. Great! At the first ‚turn over to the QRG 144 195 MHz, on which I usually call CQ, I just logged my first LA station. Even with well over S9. The antenna was all the time simply turned to the north and to my CQ calls many SM, OZ and LA stations anwered. In the log are even more SMs as DLs.
In addition to a „new country“ I also made my personal 2m ODX: SK0EN in JO99JX with 1078km.
I joined the contest for about an hour from the outlook tower Mordkuhlenberg (GMA DA/NI-238) @ the Dümmer Nature Park (DLFF-051). The activity in the contest was rather good. The result so „lala“ not so many stations in the log, but good distances. ODX was F6HWJ/p for 633km.
