First Tuesday in a Month-Contests: I walked yesterday evening on my „Hausberg“ Piesberg (DM/NS-108) just to make a few QSOs for GMA-scoring (German Mountain Award). But there were good VHF conditions and I told my „neighbor“ Klaus, DH5KLI, on DA/NI-096, that I will make 20 QSO and then go to the grocery. But suddenly I had more than 20 QSO, okay – 30 and then QRT, 40 …. 50) After only an hour I had more than 50 Qs in the log. A successfull evening on 144 MHz … next month again.
A lot of VHF contests are on the first tuesday in a month across Europe. Tonight Klaus, DH5KLI, and I met on the „Venner Berg“ (GMA DA/NI-096). Also Christian, DO7AG, joined us. We installed 2 (!) 144 MHz stations in a distance of about 50m. I was on the 20m high outlook tower with 4x Oblong and FT 817 plus PA ~25w output. Klaus used at the car park a FT 897 with 20w and also a 4xOblong. Of course we had problems with interferences but funnily other station in umpteen 10km distance caused more problems! ODX of Klaus and me was SK7MW near Malmö with an ODX of 466km. WX: dry, overcast, 2°C.
In the DARC 10m Contest I only wanted to check my portable station for upcoming holidays and try a new antenna. WX was dry but cold and very very stormy. At 10:10 UTC was the station ready and I started my first CQ. After a short time were 10 stations in the log. After 10 QSO I wanted to QSY to 40m but a lot of stations called and so I made qrt after 20 QSOs. Surprisingly only a few stations from Germany were in the log.

In the North I heard a thunder storm and so I decided to make QRT. I will test the new multiband-dipole next weekend. Quick I packed the rucksack and left the stormy summit. When I was back at the car it started raining …
First tuesday in a month – 144MHz activity evening across Europe. I climbed in really bad wx on the Piesberg (DM/NS-108). 14°C and heavy rain, not good condx, but a lot stations, also from nearby PAØ Netherlands, and nice QSOs. ODX was OZ5W for 426km. Station: 40w out, 4x Oblong, callsign: DLØGMA/p DOK: GMA
