\"dl\"Eddie (ZS6BNE), Andries (ZS6VL) und ich haben uns also entschlossen den \u201eHighest Point\u201c zu aktivieren, das lie\u00df sich auch einfacher organisieren, da der \u201eHighest Point\u201c auf der Nooitgedacht Game Ranch mit dem Ingwe Bush Camp liegt (dort trifft man auf allerlei exotische Tiere).<\/p>\n

Am Bushcamp haben wir Colin getroffen. Ein sympathischer junger Mann, wie er bei Daktari mitspielen k\u00f6nnte. Buschhut mit Zebrahutband, am G\u00fcrtel eine Pistole tragend, hat er sich geduldig aber interessiert erkl\u00e4ren lassen, was Amateurfunk ist und was wir am Berg vorh\u00e4tten. Nachdem dann jeder 150 Rand (ca. 11,50\u20ac) „abgedr\u00fcckt“ hat, durften wir also los.<\/p>\n

Immer wieder kreuzen Paviane unseren Weg und nach etlichen „Gates“ geht es durch den „Busch“ zum Startpunkt<\/p>\n

At<\/span> the bushcamp<\/span> we met<\/span> Colin<\/span>. A<\/span> personable young<\/span> man as he<\/span> could<\/span> play<\/span> at<\/span> Daktari<\/span>. Bushhat<\/span> with<\/span> Zebrahatband<\/span>, on a belt<\/span> carrying<\/span> a gun.<\/span> He listened patiently but\u00a0 interestend <\/span> what<\/span> amateur radio<\/span> is<\/span> and what we<\/span> will do on <\/span>the mountain<\/span>. Then, after<\/span> each<\/span> payed 150<\/span> Rand<\/span> (about<\/span> \u20ac 11.50<\/span>) , <\/span>we<\/span> were allowed to<\/span> go.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Again and again<\/span> baboons<\/span> crossing<\/span> our path<\/span> and<\/span> after several<\/span> „<\/span>Gates“ it goes through the<\/span> „bush<\/span>“ to the starting point<\/span><\/p>\n

\"dl\"Faszinierend, 40m ist in ZS genauso ruhig, als ob man hier in EU auf 2m SSB funkt. Mit 5w sind dort 4 QSOs kein Problem und so hatte Andries schnell sein Log voll.<\/p>\n

Eddie und ich haben abwechselnd auf 10m gefunkt. Wie gewohnt ging zur Mittagszeit das<\/p>\n

Band Richtung Europa auf. Als erstes war wieder Uli, DM5EE mit S9+ im Log. Dann<\/p>\n

meldete sich noch OM Abraham mit dem exotischen Rufzeichen 9Q5\/HJ1NGE aus dem Kongo. Noch ein paar QSO und ich hatte den Berg qualifiziert und habe mich dann zu Eddie und Andries gesellt um zu sehen, wie sie den Funkverkehr abwickeln.<\/p>\n

Eddie war ganz begeistert, wieviele Stationen anriefen. Etliche bekannte Chaser-Rufzeichen aus der GMA Gemeinde haben ihn angerufen und sind im Log gelandet. Er meinte, er liebe es mit DLs zu funken, die haben alle eine ausgezeichnete Betriebstechnik.<\/p>\n

\"\"Fascinating,<\/span> 40m<\/span> is in ZS just as<\/span> calmly like 2m<\/span> here<\/span> in<\/span> EU<\/span>. With<\/span> 5w<\/span> in SSB there<\/span> are<\/span> 4<\/span> QSOs<\/span> no problem on a Saturday morning and<\/span> so<\/span> Andries<\/span> had<\/span> its log<\/span> fills up quickly<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Eddie<\/span> and I<\/span> worked on<\/span> 10m<\/span>. As usual the band openend around noon <\/span>towards Europe<\/span>. The first<\/span> QSO was\u00a0<\/span>Uli<\/span>, DM5EE<\/span> with<\/span> S9<\/span> +<\/span> in the log.<\/span> Then<\/span> OM<\/span> Abraham<\/span> answered my CQ with the exotic<\/span> callsign<\/span> 9Q5<\/span> \/<\/span> HJ1NGE<\/span> from DR Congo<\/span>. Another few<\/span> QSOs<\/span> and I<\/span> had qualified<\/span> the mountain<\/span> and then I<\/span> joined<\/span> Eddie<\/span> and<\/span> Andries<\/span> to<\/span> see how<\/span> they<\/span> handle the<\/span> QSOs.<\/p>\n

Eddie<\/span> was very excited<\/span>,\u00a0 how many<\/span> stations called.<\/span> Several<\/span> well-known<\/span> Chaser<\/span> callsign<\/span> from the<\/span> GMA<\/span> community<\/span> have<\/span> called him<\/span>.<\/span> He said<\/span> that he loved<\/span> to operate <\/span>with<\/span> DLs, because they<\/span> all operate excellent<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
